On July 8, 2020, her sister, Naya Rivera was pronounced missing after her son, Josey Hollis Dorsey was found sleeping alone in her rented boat at Lake Piru. Mickayla’s nephew was wearing a life jacket, and an adult life jacket was also found on the boat.
A search and rescue mission was issued immediately, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on Twitter, featuring dive teams, drones, and helicopters. They searched the lake until nightfall but were unable to find the actress. Authorities halted the search and are set to continue until they find her.
However, a week later, the search for Naya Rivera came to a tragic end. The actress was confirmed dead by authorities on Monday, July 13, five days after she went missing on a California lake.
